Royal Bonn refers to pottery manufactured by the Franz Anton Mehlem factory in Bonn, Germany, which operated from the mid-19th century until the early 20th century, becoming particularly prominent during the Victorian and Art Nouveau periods.

These items are typically crafted from white earthenware or porcelain, shaped via casting or moulding, and finished with hand-painted polychrome enamel designs often enhanced by raised gold gilding.

Authenticity is generally verified through underglaze blue or impressed factory backstamps, specific crown or monogram marks associated with the Franz Anton Mehlem firm, and the presence of hand-applied artisan signatures or pattern numbers.

They can be displayed as focal points on a mantelpiece, console table, or within a glass-fronted cabinet, allowing their intricate colours and gilding to contrast against minimalist or neutral modern backdrops.

Dusting should be performed gently with a soft, dry brush. Harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive cloths, and submersion in water must be strictly avoided to protect fragile enamel paints and delicate gold leaf details.
