Hoshiarpur inlay work refers to the traditional craft originating from the Punjab region of India, characterised by intricate marquetry using bone, brass, and shisham wood, which gained prominence during the British colonial era.

These pieces typically utilise a dense hardwood foundation such as sheesham or ebony, intricately decorated with detailed hand-carved bone or horn inlays and metal wire embellishments.

Authentic pieces feature dense hand-carving with micro-geometric or floral patterns, hand-cut bone elements, traditional dovetail joinery, and natural patination consistent with age.

An inlaid box provides textural contrast when placed on a minimalist surface, coffee table, or bookshelf, acting as a focal point that introduces global craftsmanship into contemporary spaces.

Maintain these objects by keeping them away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, gently dusting with a soft, dry cloth without applying chemical polishes or excessive moisture.
