In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian travelling boxes, often called dressing cases or vanity boxes, became essential accessories for affluent travellers during the 19th century as railway and steamship travel expanded.

These boxes were typically crafted from dense exotic hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or walnut, and fitted with brass hardware, velvet linings, cut glass jars, and sterling silver components.

Authenticity is determined by examining the joinery, hallmark stamps on silver lids, original fitted compartments, makers plates, and the natural patina of the wood and metal.

Placed closed upon a console table or open on a desk, such a box functions as a sculptural object that introduces rich wood grain, metallic accents, and historic texture to a room.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations to protect the wood and fabric lining, and use non-abrasive methods to clean silver elements.
