Treen refers to small, functional wooden household objects made by turning, carving, or joining wood, which became highly collectable during the Victorian era for their craftsmanship and utility.

These boxes were typically constructed from dense exotic hardwoods like rosewood or mahogany, featuring dovetailed joints, brass hardware, and intricate pierced or fretwork panels.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate hand-cut dovetailing, patination on the wood, genuine brass escutcheons, and traditional hand-turned feet or knobs.

An antique wooden box adds texture and historic character when placed on a modern desk, bookshelf, or console table to store contemporary odds and ends.

Maintain antique rosewood by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive humidity fluctuations, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the grain without clogging.
