Edwardian mirrors typically feature lighter, more refined proportions compared to heavy Victorian pieces, often incorporating classical inlay and satinwood banding inspired by earlier 18th-century revivals.

These items were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or pine frames veneered with figured mahogany, featuring delicate stringing inlay, hand-beveled mirror glass, and secure backing boards held with traditional glaziers points or brass pins.

Authenticity is determined by examining the timber grain, hand-cut veneer, oxidized brass or steel fixings, and the presence of slight imperfections or foxing in the original silvered mirror plate.

An antique mirror adds warmth and historical contrast when hung above a minimalist console table or placed opposite a window to amplify natural light in a modern space.

Clean the frame using a soft, dry microfiber cloth and occasionally nourish the wood with natural beeswax, avoiding harsh chemical sprays or excess moisture that could damage the antique finish or silvered glass backing.
