We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian mirrors, produced between 1901 and 1910, marked a shift towards lighter, more refined designs compared to heavy Victorian predecessors. They frequently incorporate mahogany frames, delicate boxwood stringing, oval profiles, and classical neo-Georgian proportions.

Frames were predominantly constructed from dark hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, often accented with satinwood or boxwood inlay. The glass components featured silvered backing and were occasionally finished with bevelled edges.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut jointing on the reverse, original pine backing boards, and precise marquetry or chequered stringing along the grain. Age-related oxidisation or slight desilverisation around the perimeter of the glass also indicates period age.

Position an oval mahogany mirror centrally above a hallway console or living room sideboard to anchor the space. The warm wood tones contrast effectively against neutral plaster, contemporary wallpaper, or dark matte wall paint.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the original patina. Avoid spraying liquid glass cleaners directly onto the surface to prevent moisture from seeping into the wooden frame or eroding the mirror backing.
