Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often revived 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs, featuring lighter proportions, satinwood veneers, and delicate hand-painted floral motifs.

These pieces typically employ satinwood or mahogany frames combined with woven cane panels for the backrests and delicate hand-painted polychrome decorations applied directly to the wood surface.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-brushed polychrome details showing natural ageing or craquelure, and genuine cane work rather than machine-pressed synthetic alternatives.

They can be used as accent seating in a living room or as occasional bedroom chairs to introduce historic character, contrasting effectively against minimalist contemporary decor.

Maintain them by avoiding direct sunlight to protect the painted surfaces and satinwood veneer, and clean the cane gently using a damp cloth to prevent it from becoming brittle.
