The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, is characterised by classical Greco-Roman influences, symmetry, and exotic motifs such as Chinoiserie and faux bamboo finishes.

These pieces were typically crafted from native hardwoods such as beech or birch, which were meticulously turned and carved to imitate the segmented nodes of natural bamboo.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-turned wooden nodes, period-appropriate joinery such as pegged mortise and tenon joints, and aged surface patination with wear consistent with age.

Pair the chair with minimalist or contemporary furnishings to create a striking contrast, allowing its historic silhouette and decorative painted finish to act as a focal point.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent the historic paint and wood from drying out or cracking.
