Toilet mirrors, also known as dressing glasses, became popular in British homes during the 18th century as personal grooming and hygiene gained importance among the affluent classes.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany or mahogany veneers applied to secondary woods like pine or oak, often constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints on the small drawers.

Authentic pieces often exhibit original hand-blown glass with minor imperfections, hand-cut joinery, old timber shrinkage, and traditional brass fixings rather than modern screws.

It can be placed on top of a modern sideboard or chest of drawers to add historical contrast, warmth, and functional tabletop reflection to a contemporary bedroom or living space.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep the wood nourished with appropriate wax, and clean the glass gently with a soft cloth while avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
