Treen refers to small, functional wooden objects made by turning or carving, which were popular household and personal items from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

These items were predominantly crafted from dense local hardwoods such as boxwood, fruitwoods like apple or pear, and occasionally exotic timbers.

Authentication relies on examining tool marks from lathe turning, natural patina, shrinkage cracks, wear patterns, and the presence of period-appropriate interior papers or inscriptions.

It can be displayed as a cabinet curiosity, placed atop a stack of books on a coffee table, or integrated into a curated bookshelf vignette.

Keep wooden objects away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to prevent cracking, and occasionally apply microcrystalline wax to protect the surface finish.
