Victorian armchairs typically feature deep seats, sprung construction, and turned wooden legs often fitted with castors, reflecting the periods emphasis on comfort and robust craftsmanship.

These frames were generally constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or beech, utilizing coil springs, horsehair stuffing, and hessian webbing for support.

Authentication involves examining the joinery methods, hand-turned wooden components, traditional hand-tied coil springing systems, and the natural age-related patina on the timber.

Pairing a traditional armchair frame with modern, textured fabrics or bold, patterned textiles creates a striking juxtaposition that anchors both modern and classic living spaces.

Maintain the timber by avoiding direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, applying occasional applications of microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the polished wood.
