Button-back upholstery, or tufting, became prominent during the Victorian era, involving deep-set buttons pulled through the padding to secure geometric patterns and provide structural firmness.

These frames were typically constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, supported by internal webbing, horsehair stuffing, and traditional coil springs.

Authenticity is assessed through hand-turned wooden components, traditional joinery methods, handmade brass castors, and aged natural stuffing materials rather than modern synthetic foams.

Positioning the piece as an accent seating option in a contemporary bedroom or study adds texture and historical contrast while maintaining functional utility.

Maintain fabric integrity through regular gentle vacuuming with a soft brush attachment, protect wooden elements from direct sunlight, and apply microcrystalline wax to polish the timber.
