This Victorian overmantel mirror dates from 1870 and displays an English Country House style. The piece consists of a glass plate set within a giltwood and gesso frame, finished in gold with a beaded moulding pattern running along the inner rim and an arched top above a flat base. Physical inspection reveals a wooden panelled back, a maker's stamp for Dearth and Son of London, areas of deterioration along the base, and very fine surface marks across the upper portion of the mercury mirror plate.
