Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 18th century, corner cupboards were incorporated into dining rooms and parlours to utilise space efficiently and display fine porcelain. Often constructed from native pine, these cabinets mirrored classical architectural elements of the Georgian era, such as pediments and arched niches.

Georgian pine cabinets were constructed using hand-planed timber joined with traditional mortise, tenon, and dovetail joints. Decorative details like shell motifs and floral swags were hand-carved directly into the timber or built up using carved wooden appliques.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-tool marks, such as pit-saw or adze marks on unexposed backboards, hand-cut joinery, and natural shrinkage in the wood panels. The surface patina typically demonstrates uneven oxidation and historic wear around handles and hinges.

A carved pine corner cabinet serves as a structural focal point in an alcove or corner space. Contrast the light pine timber by displaying modern monochrome ceramics or glassware on the upper open shelves while keeping functional items concealed in the lower cupboard.

Apply a clear beeswax paste once or twice a year to nourish the timber and maintain its natural patina. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, keep the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting, and avoid chemical polishes.
