Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian standing corner cabinet dates from 1890 and is constructed from dark brown rosewood with satinwood marquetry inlay. The glazed upper section has a curved door fitted with a brass handle and tassel, topped by a brass gallery rail and a shaped pediment. Inside, the mirrored backdrop reflects light across the internal shelves, while open display space sits beneath the cabinet and a lower undertier shelf connects four slender tapered legs. Marquetry floral motifs decorate the frieze and the lower drawer or surface band. Standing at 175 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, this corner display piece suits an English Country House aesthetic. It functions practically in a living room, dining room, or hallway to display decorative items while utilizing corner space efficiently.

FAQs

Popularised during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, corner cabinets were designed to maximise space efficiency while displaying fine china and glassware, frequently featuring classical marquetry motifs inspired by 18th-century Sheraton designs.

Antique corner vitrines often feature solid hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany, decorated with delicate satinwood or boxwood marquetry inlays, brass galleries, and hand-cut glass panels.

Look for genuine timber grain variations, hand-set marquetry inlays, original brass fitments, smooth joinery such as dovetail joints, and characteristic age-appropriate wear to the polish and mirror backs.

Position the unit in an underutilised corner of a dining room or living area to add vertical interest, using the glazed display section for curated ceramics, glassware, or decorative art objects.

Dust regularly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth, avoid exposure to direct sunlight or central heating sources to prevent veneer cracking, and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain once or twice a year.
