Description

An unusual C19th pair of golden oak and leather open armchairs; in the Gothic manner; the triangular top rail with scrolled corners and a central pierced trefoil above an upholstered padded back rest. The padded arms with carved scrolled knuckles raised on square tapering supports. The upholstered padded seat, raised on carved square tapering legs united by typical 'H' stretchers. Raised on original brass and ceramic casters. The whole of the frames with chamfered edge detail. Newly upholstered in good quality black leather with studded edges.

This pair of nineteenth-century open armchairs dates from the Victorian era and follows the Gothic Revival style. Built from golden oak, the furniture combines warm timber tones with black leather upholstery secured by metal studding. Each chair has a triangular pediment with scrolled corners, a pierced trefoil cutout above a padded backrest, and padded armrests with scrolled knuckles over turned supports.
