Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Windsor chair is a form of wooden seating where the legs and backrest spindles are driven into drilled holes in a solid shaped wooden seat, rather than continuing as continuous upright posts.

English Windsor chairs were traditionally constructed using a combination of regional hardwoods, including steam-bent yew wood or ash for the bows, elm for the solid carved seat, and turned beech or fruitwood for the legs and spindles.

Authentic period Windsor chairs feature hand-turned or hand-shaved spindles, pegged construction joints, natural wear marks on footrests, maker stamps impressed on the seat rim, and distinct timber grain variations typical of historic workshop production.

Position a single low-back Windsor armchair as an accent piece in a contemporary hallway, beside a minimalist desk, or alongside modern upholstered sofas to provide warmth and structural texture.

Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight, dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth, and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly along the wood grain to protect the original patination.
