Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French jewellery casket from the 19th century is an ornate decorative box designed to hold precious items, often decorated with high-relief figural scenes, gilding, and intricate metalwork reflecting historicist revived styles like Rococo or Renaissance.

These caskets were typically constructed from cast brass, bronze, or white metal alloys, frequently finished with silver electroplating or gilded details, and sometimes lined inside with silk or velvet to protect fine jewellery.

Authentic 19th-century pieces often feature makers stamps or initials on the base or rim, show natural oxidisation or uneven surface wear where plating has worn down to reveal base metals, and display detailed casting or repousse work.

Place the casket atop a bedroom dressing table, a hallway console table, or a curated bookshelf to add textural contrast, historical patina, and metallic warmth to modern schemes.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh liquid metal polishes or abrasive chemical cleaners that can strip away original silvering, gilding, or protective lacquer finishes.
