Regency Anglo Indian Teak Wall / Overmantle Mirror

Description

Unusual Regency Anglo Indian teak wall / overmantle mirror; the over hanging moulded cornice of a breakfront design, having a gadrooned under carving, above the frieze carved with elongated acanthus leaves, centred by a scallap shell. The projecting sides having unusual carving of a snake climbing a palm tree above rope twist pillars headed with acanthus carving and ebonised finials. The base with palm leaf tablets raised on ebonised turned feet. The original mirror plate with minor appropriate distressing housed in an ebonised reeded slip around a bobbin carved moulding.

Indian circa 1825

Very good original condition.
