A pair of Victorian Gothic oak hall chairs wiith arms; turned front legs and green leather buttoned seats.
There was evidence of paint in the centre reserves, no doubt a crest or armorial which had been removed, so we commissioned a local artist to paint in the stags'' heads.
All the carving of the back was done when the chairs were made, though it is possible that some old re-used oak planks were used as there are some marks on the backs. The horizontal line just above the level of the arms is probably the result of the chairs leaning against a dado rail for many years. But we have no doubt that the chairs are as they were originally made apart from the painted stag''s head.
