The quality is excellent, they are well sprung and very comfortable. The sweeping satin birch arms curve beautifully down to the front legs, giving them a sleek and curvaceous look, they sit on beautiful Neoclassical Egyptian style feet. The satin birch has a lovely colour tone and wonderful grain patterns.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Swedish Art Deco armchairs, often associated with the Swedish Grace movement of the 1920s and 1930s, blend understated classical symmetry with streamlined geometric curves. They are distinguished by light-coloured native woods, particularly satin birch, and refined, minimalist upholstery.

Craftsmen typically utilised native Northern European hardwoods, most notably flame or satin birch, prized for its golden hue and distinctive figure. Frames were lined with natural padding such as horsehair and spring units, wrapped in high-grade wools, velvet, or leather.

Authentic pieces display hand-finished woodworking, smooth sweeping wooden armrests, and subtle carved accents on the feet or apron. The timber usually exhibits natural age-related patination, and the construction methods feature traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Their clean lines and warm wood tones allow them to seamlessly complement modern minimalist, Scandinavian, or transitional spaces. Positioning them as a pair opposite a neutral sofa creates a balanced, sophisticated conversation area.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and strong heat sources to prevent cracking or discoloration of the satin birch finish. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and nourish polished timber with a high-quality natural beeswax, while cleaning upholstery with a gentle vacuum attachment.
