This late Georgian armchair dates to circa 1800 and follows traditional English design. The construction incorporates mahogany and brass hardware, paired with textile upholstery. A tall, gently shaped back with pronounced wings and outward-scrolling arms sits above a generously upholstered seat, covered in a woven red damask fabric featuring a floral pattern. The underframe consists of straight square wooden legs joined by an H-stretcher, terminating in small metal castors. The timber displays a warm brown finish. Practical dimensions measure 114 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 61 cm deep. Suitable placement includes a sitting room, a library, or beside a fireplace for daily reading and relaxation.

A Georgian wing armchair is characterised by high backrests, projecting side wings originally designed to deflect draughts, rollover armrests, and exposed timber legs, usually made of mahogany or walnut.

Late Georgian wing chairs typically feature solid mahogany or oak internal framing, webbed and spring-filled upholstery using natural fibers like horsehair, and turned or square-tapered solid mahogany legs.

Authentic late Georgian pieces feature hand-carved joinery, original square or tapered mahogany legs, mortise and tenon construction, H-stretchers for stability, and brass castors secured with period screws.

A Georgian wingback armchair functions well as a focal accent piece in modern living rooms or libraries, paired with contemporary floor lighting, minimalist side tables, or neutral rugs to balance its classical silhouette.

Maintain mahogany legs by applying natural beeswax sparingly and buffing along the wood grain. Protect fabric upholstery by keeping the item out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading and vacuuming gently with a soft brush attachment.
