This set of eight Regency mahogany dining chairs comprises six side chairs and two carvers finished in dark brown, each measuring 85 cm high, 48 cm wide and 50 cm deep for the dining chairs, and 85 cm high, 56 cm wide and 54 cm deep for the carvers. The seats are upholstered in red and gold fabric featuring a geometric diamond pattern. The dark timber grain complements traditional interior schemes, while the patterned upholstery introduces colour and texture to the room.

FAQs

Regency dining chairs, originating from early nineteenth-century Britain, feature classical proportions, carved top rails, curved back splats, and swept sabre or turned legs inspired by classical antiquity.

Cabinetmakers typically utilised high-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its dense grain and rich reddish-brown colour, constructed using traditional hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic pieces display historical construction indicators such as hand-cut joinery, original corner bracing, hand-carved decorative motifs, and natural patination across the timber surfaces.

Pair these mahogany chairs with a minimalist contemporary dining table or modern artwork to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and clean contemporary lines.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to maintain the rich grain, ensuring placement remains away from direct heat and damp environments.
