This pair of Art Deco armchairs originates from England and dates from the 1930s. The chairs are constructed from walnut with a warm brown finish displaying distinct grain patterns, paired with cream-coloured leather upholstery secured by brass stud trim along the lower edges. Each armchair stands on four tapered legs and incorporates scrolled wooden armrests that curve downward toward the seat. The frames are fully re-polished and re-upholstered, presenting an overall appearance suited for contemporary domestic use. Measuring 89 cm high by 56 cm wide and 66 cm deep, these armchairs integrate easily into a variety of living spaces. They function well as occasional side chairs in a sitting room, or as comfortable seating placed around a study desk or dressing table. The clean lines and neutral tones allow them to complement both traditional and modern interior schemes while providing practical daily seating.

Art Deco armchairs from the 1920s and 1930s are characterised by geometric silhouettes, sweeping curvilinear forms, and rich timber framing that reflect early 20th-century modernism.

Cabinetmakers typically utilised hardwoods such as walnut, rosewood, or mahogany alongside leather, velvet, or woven textiles, often accented with brass studding.

Authentic pieces exhibit sculptural timber arms, tapered square legs, traditional webbed frame joinery, and veneer work consistent with period craftsmanship.

Position a pair of armchairs opposite a contemporary minimalist sofa or alongside a polished side table to create visual contrast and balance.

Keep the chairs away from direct sunlight and radiators, apply a hide food conditioner to the leather periodically, and dust walnut surfaces with a soft cloth and beeswax polish.
