An early 20th-century Anglo-Indian armchair of the colonial style, made from medium brown teak with a woven rush seat. It has a ladder back design with four horizontal slats, upward sloping shaped armrests, and uprights topped with turned finials. The front legs feature hand-carved chamfered details and are joined by turned stretchers, with the seat showing loose strands and losses to the rush. The frame is structurally sound with minor age-related wear, and the seat is tight with some regular use left in it. This piece measures 105 cm high by 58 cm wide by 57 cm deep, with a seat height of 44 cm. It works well in a study, drawing room, or hallway as a decorative and practical seat, bringing an English Country House look to a traditional or eclectic interior.

Anglo-Indian furniture merges traditional British utility and form with regional Indian timbers and craftsmanship. Pieces often feature dense hardwoods like teak alongside hand-woven elements like rush or cane.

These chairs typically feature dense hardwoods such as teak, oak, or elm for the structural frame, combined with woven natural rush or cord for the seat base.

Authentic examples exhibit hand-turned uprights, natural timber grain variation, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and age-consistent wear on the hand-woven rush.

Position the chair as a standalone accent piece in a quiet reading corner or pair it near a modern sideboard to introduce natural texture and historical contrast.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply natural beeswax annually; clean the rush seat gently with a soft brush and avoid excess moisture.
