Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Gothic Revival seating is defined by architectural motifs drawn from medieval ecclesiastical design, including carved arches, elaborate cresting, high backrests, and turned uprights.

Chairs from this period were predominantly crafted from solid dense hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, combined with horsehair padding and natural textile upholstery.

Look for hand-carved decorative relief detailing, mortise and tenon joinery, historical timber patination, and evidence of hand-tooling on the underside or unexposed frame areas.

Pairing dark, structured oak chairs with streamlined, modern dining tables or minimalist contemporary artwork creates an engaging aesthetic contrast in formal dining or entry spaces.

Maintain the timber frame by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax polish annually, while vacuuming upholstery gently with a brush attachment.
