Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King Edward VII, Edwardian dining chairs often draw inspiration from earlier historical periods including Jacobean and Chippendale styles. They typically feature solid timber frames, detailed carving along the crest rail, turned legs, and high upholstered backrests.

Cabinetmakers predominantly utilised solid European hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, and walnut for frame construction. Upholstery frequently featured woven textiles including silk damask, wool tapestry, or patterned velvet, supported by interior webbed construction and traditional horsehair stuffing.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved ornamentation, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and uniform age-related patination on timber surfaces. Period hardware, such as brass castors on front legs and original upholstery tacks beneath frame borders, also helps verify authenticity.

A set of dark oak dining chairs offers visual contrast when paired with a modern minimalist dining table or streamlined contemporary architecture. Combining structured historical seating with neutral wall tones creates a balanced, eclectic interior scheme.

Dusting the timber frame regularly with a dry cloth keeps the surface clean, while periodic treatment with natural beeswax polish preserves the oak finish. The fabric upholstery should be vacuumed gently using a soft brush attachment to prevent dust accumulating within the weave.
