Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Glastonbury chair is an X-frame wooden armchair featuring sloping arms and pegged joints, based on sixteenth-century ecclesiastical designs and re-popularised during the Victorian Gothic Revival.

These chairs are predominantly constructed from solid oak timber using traditional mortise and tenon joinery held together with visible wooden dowels or pegs.

Authentic period examples feature solid heavy oak construction, hand-carved relief decoration such as rosettes or Latin text, exposed joint pegs, and genuine patination from wear.

It serves as a prominent accent piece in a hallway, library, or study, contrasting effectively against simple contemporary decor to highlight its sculptural silhouette.

Regular light dusting with a lint-free cloth and an annual application of beeswax polish maintains the wood finish and guards against environmental drying.
