Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Black Forest Table Mirror to the 1880s.

The original oval bevelled mirror is set within a finely carved lime wood frame, formed from two substantial stems that cross at the base to create the front legs. Delicately entwined around these are smaller stems, exquisitely carved with vine leaves and clusters of grapes, a classic Black Forest motif.

The reverse is finished with a polished oval timber panel, from which a hinged folding strut extends, allowing the mirror to stand securely on a table or dressing surface. The back also retains an interesting original retailer's label for W. Goodman's of Taunton, adding to its provenance and appeal.

The mirror is in very good antique condition. The frame is well preserved, and the original mirror plate has only a couple of minor light surface scratches consistent with age and use.
