Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian Bible box is constructed from warm brown oak with a sloped hinged lid and a moulded base. The front panel features hand-carved initials WB flanking a central hand-wrought iron lock plate, alongside the incised date 1733, with visible surface wear, scratches, and grain variations across the timber. Two hinges secure the top lid to the main body, while the interior houses two oak drawers. Measuring 45 cm wide by 30 cm deep by 25 cm high, the box sits compactly upon surfaces. Placed in a gentleman's library or office, the piece functions as a desk accessory for storing stationery, letters, or small personal items while adding historic character to the workspace.

A Bible box, frequently constructed with a slanted or flat lid, was a 17th and 18th-century tabletop storage container designed to protect expensive family Bibles, legal documents, and writing implements.

These boxes were typically constructed from solid English oak utilizing peg joinery or crude dovetails, complemented by hand-forged iron hardware such as strap hinges, hasps, and escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, uneven wear around the base, natural oxidisation surrounding iron fastenings, and period-appropriate incised carving or dating.

Position the piece atop a modern console table, desk, or sideboard to serve as a functional organizer for stationery or as a textured historical display object.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and excessive humidity. Dust with a soft dry cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish.
