Rare Pair of Gillows 18th Century Antique Windsor Armchairs

A beautiful pair of English Georgian country antique Windsor armchairs by Gillows of Lancaster. Made for them by the known chair makers, The Wilcock family of Bentham, North Yorkshire. The Regional Chair Society have very interesting history on this family of 18th century chair makers. This is a true pair, having spent their whole lives together. They are both in such amazing, original condition with no replacement parts and still retaining much of the original Georgian green paint finish beneath a wonderful slightly later darker paint. Quality craftsperson made in mainly ash, this pair of country Windsor armchair are an ample size and comfortable to sit in with stick backs, solid shaped seats and standing on turned front legs with connecting crinoline stretchers. They are both in superb condition, full height with the seats being 44cm high. A rare pair of honest Gillows 18th century antique Windsor chairs.
