Description

Exceptional George III set of 6 figured mahogany hall chairs; extraordinary unusual form; the silhouette, spooned shaped backs having a deep curvature with a large book matched well figured mahogany central panel; the outer edge having a slender cross grained moulding. The shaped seats in fabulous solid figured mahogany with a thumb nail moulded edge. Raised on elegant turned tapering legs with sabre legs to the rear. The rear of the chairs having the very unusual feature of the corresponding figured mahogany book matched panels. Would originally have been used with loose squab cushions. Fabulous rich colour and patina.
