Fairford Barn Antiques has dated these Irish Mahogany Side Chairs to the 18th Century.
London circa 1880. These chairs are of exceptional quality including fine carving down the legs. Very wide seats covered in green leather. The later chair has the Cowtan stamp.

Cowtan and Sons were an important interior decoration company famous for their wallpaper and whose customers included UK and European royalty. On a lesser scale they produced some top quality pieces of furniture which are now rare.
