This large nineteenth-century Italian Renaissance Revival mirror takes the form of a rectangular wall hanging with a deeply hand-carved giltwood and gesso frame. The elaborate surround displays pierced openwork scrollwork and acanthus leaf foliage finished in gold leaf gilding with a moulded sight edge. It retains the original mirror plate and backboard, measuring 137 cm high, 106 cm wide, and 6 cm deep. Positioned traditionally above the mantel in a living room, drawing room, or hallway, the piece brings a classical design vibe reminiscent of a French chateau interior.
