This Anglo-Indian Colonial campaign box from 1910 is made from dark brown hardwood and teak with a natural polished finish. The rectangular vessel has high-relief hand carvings of botanical foliage and fruit across its lid and sides, alongside a carved floral border running along the perimeter of the lid and base. Inside, it houses British Army WW2 regimental arms motif crests, a silver plate plaque from 1916, and the Latin motto Quis separabit. The piece measures 10 cm high, 31 cm wide, and 21 cm deep. Suitable for placement on an office desk, the box serves for holding jewellery, documents, or cigars. It provides a practical and decorative storage option for a gentleman's library or study, functioning well as a standalone desk accessory while maintaining historical character.

Historically used by military officers and travellers during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, campaign boxes were portable containers designed to secure personal belongings, documents, or valuables while on deployment or in transit.

These boxes were typically crafted from durable hardwoods such as teak, rosewood, mahogany, or oak, often decorated with deep relief hand carvings depicting botanical foliage, regional patterns, or military motifs.

Look for indications of hand carving such as subtle variations in motif depth, period joinery like hand-cut dovetails or mitred corners, authentic wear on the base, and natural patination on the wood surfaces.

Place the box centrally on a dark wood office desk, bookshelf, or console table to serve as a functional accent for storing desktop items, keys, or jewellery.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax paste polish annually to nourish the timber and preserve the carved details.
