A mahogany officer’s campaign kit shaving mirror
The rectangular frame opens to a shaving mirror, the frame folding out to form an easel and closes to protect the looking glass. Can also be hung from the loop to the back.

Folding campaign mirrors, used by the military when in the field for shaving and generally keeping up appearances, they fold flat to make them portable.
