This pair of Jacobean Revival armchairs dates from 1910 and is made from solid medium brown oak with original floral upholstered cushions showing multicoloured tones. Each armchair features barley twist front supports, slatted side panels, and an adjustable reclining backrest, complemented by shaped wooden framing along the base. The woodwork displays visible grain patterns and signs of age consistent with period use, while the cushions provide padded seating with a patterned textile finish. Each chair measures 86 cm high, 72 cm wide, and 98 cm deep, offering comfortable proportions for a living room, study, or reading corner. They suit traditional English country house interiors and provide a functional seating arrangement for relaxation spaces within a home today.

An antique oak reclining armchair is a late nineteenth or early twentieth-century lounge seat featuring a solid oak frame with an adjustable backrest mechanism, often influenced by Arts and Crafts or Jacobean Revival design principles.

These armchairs were traditionally constructed using solid European oak, mortise and tenon joinery, traditional webbed or spring seating, and internal steel or brass reclining rod mechanisms.

Authentic period pieces feature turned wood details such as barley twist or spindle uprights, heavy oak construction with visible grain, and original metal notch-and-rod adjustment hardware integrated into the rear frame.

Position a pair opposite a neutral sofa or alongside a focal fireplace to introduce natural wood texture, balancing traditional woodwork with modern lighting and contemporary soft furnishings.

Keep the timber clean by dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and apply natural beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement.
