Vintage 3 Drawer Jewellery box.
Vintage handmade jewellery box with 3 drawers and a secret compartment.
This is a beautifully custom-made jewellery box, crafted from solid mahogany with a rich, warm brown finish that showcases the natural grain of the wood. The box has a rectangular, chest-like form, resting on a plinth base and topped with a moulded edge solid Mahogany Top. The sides feature sophisticated fielded panels, indicating high-quality construction. The front face is fitted with three functional, stacked drawers, each featuring a polished, solid brass dropper pull. These pulls are detailed, designed to resemble a tassel hanging from a decorative, rope-edged escutcheon, adding an elegant, antique touch. A close examination reveals the exceptional craftsmanship of the drawers, which are secured with traditional, strong dovetail joints. All three drawers, as well as the interior of the lowest compartment, are lined with a striking, deep royal blue baize fabric, designed to
... protect jewellery from scratches. A distinctive feature of this box is the slightly concealed compartment revealed by removing the bottom drawer, which is also baize-lined. This chest is noted for its ample size, making it practical for organising and storing a substantial jewellery collection. Based on its construction and style, this piece is believed to have been handmade around the 1930s, presenting a timeless, functional item that would be a commanding feature on a bedroom chest of drawers or as an organised storage solution inside a larger safe.
The chest is in very good condition throughout with no joint movement and has been thoroughly checked over in our workshop. The chest has been cleaned, waxed and is in home ready condition. Please note; This item is in good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there, as expected with any vintage items.
