Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Regency style spans the early 19th century, heavily influenced by neoclassical architecture and Greco-Roman motifs, featuring clean lines, dark woods like mahogany, and refined classical ornamentation.

Regency chairs are traditionally constructed from dense timbers such as mahogany or rosewood, frequently incorporating mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved details, and upholstered drop-in seats.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber grain, hand-cut joinery, traditional finishing techniques, signs of age-appropriate oxidisation, and construction methods consistent with the early 19th century.

Pairing dark wood antique chairs with a contemporary dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights the rich grain of the timber while grounding the overall room design.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting with a dry lint-free cloth, and occasionally applying a specialist traditional beeswax.
