London City Antiques has dated this Georgian Mahogany Letter Box to the 18th Century.

The hinged lid opens to reveal the original fitted interior with multiple divisions for letters, notes and correspondence. The interior retains its original red lining which is attractively worn with age. The inside of the lid features an inlaid compass-star motif, a refined Georgian flourish seen only on superior pieces.

A rare and highly decorative desk or hallway piece perfect for organising stationery and correspondence, or for adding an elegant period accent to any interior.
Condition:
In good antique condition with a rich, warm patina. Minor age-related wear and small veneer lines are present, particularly to the interior lining, all consistent with age. Structurally sound with original mounts and fittings intact.
