Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A campaign writing slope is a portable wooden box designed for officers and travellers during the 18th and 19th centuries. It features a hinged lid that opens into an inclined writing surface, complete with compartments for inkwells, pens, and stationery.

These boxes were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or teak to withstand travel. Brass straps, corner brackets, and flush handles were applied to reinforce the edges and structure.

Authentic pieces feature flush-fitted brass hardware designed not to catch during transit, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and period-correct mortise locks. Natural patination on the brass mounts and original interior leather or velvet writing surfaces also indicate age.

A campaign writing slope can be displayed closed on a sideboard, console table, or office desk as a decorative focal point. It can also be styled open on a bookshelf to display vintage stationery or calligraphic instruments.

Maintain the wood finish by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish along the grain annually. Keep the box away from direct heat sources or damp environments, and clean brass fittings gently without harsh chemicals to preserve the aged patina.
