Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian freestanding mirrors, such as cheval glasses, typically feature elegant wood frames, often utilizing exotic or decorative veneers like satinwood, supported by turned pillars and splayed legs designed for stability and adjustable tilting.

These mirrors were commonly constructed using a secondary softwood or hardwood carcass veneered with figured timbers such as satinwood or mahogany, incorporating brass swivel hardware and hand-bevelled glass plates.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-silvered or early bevelled mirror glass with natural oxidation, traditional screw hardware, and secondary timbers consistent with late 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

An antique wooden mirror adds warmth and tactile texture when contrasted against neutral contemporary walls, functioning as a practical full-length dressing piece in a bedroom or a reflective focal point in a hallway.

Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth for dusting the wooden frame, avoiding abrasive chemical polishes, and clean the mirror glass gently with a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than directly onto the surface.
