Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. Suitable for use in a home study, office, or library, this practical seating option serves well at a writing desk or as an occasional chair. The compact dimensions allow it to fit comfortably into traditional or eclectic interior schemes while providing functional daily use. The combination of dark wood tones and textured seating brings an established character to a working space.

FAQs

Originating in the early 20th century, Edwardian swivel desk chairs combine traditional timber joinery with cast iron revolving mechanisms, designed to support prolonged office work.

These chairs were predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as oak or mahogany, fitted with iron screw mechanisms and seats upholstered in pressed or embossed hide.

Authentic period examples feature cast-iron threaded spindle mechanisms beneath the seat, hand-turned timber back spindles, and original wear patina across touchpoints.

Combining a dark oak desk chair with a clean-lined contemporary desk creates visual contrast, bringing historical texture into modern home offices.

Apply clear beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, wipe the embossed leather elements with a dry cloth, and occasionally lubricate the iron swivel mechanism with light oil.
