This pair of Jacobean revival dining chairs dates from c.1920 and uses solid oak with a dark brown finish and a rich patina. Each chair has a slatted back, a newly re-caned woven cane seat, barley twist front legs, and an H-stretcher. The timber shows visible grain variations, minor surface wear from age, and block feet at the base of the twisted legs. The chairs measure 91 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 38 cm deep, with a seat height of 46 cm. These pieces fit naturally into a dining room, kitchen, or conservatory setting within an English country house interior. They work well around a dining table or as occasional seating against a wall, providing sturdy and functional seating ready for daily use in a vintage-inspired home.

Jacobean Revival furniture, popular in the 1920s, draws inspiration from 17th-century English woodwork. It typically features dark stained oak, barley twist turnings, geometric panelling, and sturdy, rectilinear framing.

These chairs were crafted from solid oak frames, often finished with a dark varnish or wax to mimic aged timber, paired with hand-woven natural cane or rattan insert seats.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-turned or early machine-turned barley twist legs, mortise and tenon joinery, slight unevenness in the hand-woven cane, and natural surface patination along high-touch areas.

Pair these chairs with a minimalist modern dining table to create visual contrast, or place them individually as accent seating in a hallway, bedroom, or study.

Clean the oak frame with a soft cloth and apply beeswax periodically. Keep the cane seats slightly hydrated by wiping the underside with a damp cloth occasionally to prevent brittle cracking.
