We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Edwardian period, spanning from 1901 to 1910, often reinterpreted classical French styles, popularising the bergere chair with its enclosed cane work and comfortable upholstered cushions for refined drawing rooms and libraries.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, featuring woven cane side panels, mortise and tenon joinery, and traditionally sprung seats upholstered in leather or fine textiles.

Authentic items exhibit period-appropriate hand-carving, traditional joinery methods without modern metal fasteners, natural ageing on the timber and leather, and often maker stamps or brass castors consistent with early 20th-century manufacturing.

These armchairs serve as sophisticated statement pieces in modern schemes, pairing well with minimalist architectural elements, neutral walls, and contemporary textures to create a curated, eclectic aesthetic.

Maintain timber and leather by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources, regularly dusting with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying suitable microcrystalline wax or leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.
