A Chinese Carved Jade and Gilt Metal Mounted Jewellery Box

This very pleasing small early 20th century Chinese jewellery box is ideal for storing small pieces such as rings, etc.

The box is made from panels of pale green jade set into a gilt brass frame with a hinged lid.

The whole metal frame is hand engraved with a scrolling leaf and flower design, including the raised and shaped feet, which support and elevate this delightful piece.

The top panel is most impressive with its carved and pierced decoration which is also of a foliate design with exotic flowers and leaves.

The top panel is lined underneath with a thin glass panel to seal the pierced decoration, keeping the inner contents clean from the dust.

The box is in excellent original condition with some slight wear to the gilding in keeping with its age.
