FAQs

Welsh country chairs are traditional vernacular seating pieces crafted by local joiners using regional timbers like oak, typically characterised by sturdy construction and functional simplicity.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from native hardwoods such as oak, elm, and ash, often featuring solid plank seats and pegged mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-cut joints, traditional pegging, period tool marks, and natural patina resulting from decades of use and oxidisation.

An antique childs chair can be incorporated as a standalone decorative accent in a living room, placed in a hallway, or used to add character and historical contrast to a contemporary space.

Preservation involves keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent splitting, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the wood finish.
