This Edwardian display cabinet, dating from circa 1910, is constructed from dark brown mahogany with glass panels to the front and sides. The piece stands 162.5 cm high, 76 cm wide, and 34 cm deep, offering ample height for display within a reception room, dining room, or hallway. The structure features a subtle serpentine form to the lower front section, a reeded top frieze with carved rosettes, and square tapered Sheraton-style legs. Inside, the cabinet is lined with cream-coloured fabric across the interior back and shelves, providing a neutral backdrop for displayed items. A working key and lock are fitted to the glazed door, accented by a small red tassel hanging from the key. The timber displays a rich dark brown polish and smooth finish, with clean, minimal lines throughout the traditional English Country House design.

Edwardian display cabinets, dating from around 1901 to 1910, typically feature lighter construction than Victorian predecessors, emphasising slim timber frames, clear glass panels, and refined neoclassically inspired detailing.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or satinwood veneers, fitted with glass panels and lined internally with fabric or timber shelving.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished joinery, age-appropriate wear to the timber finish, period hardware, and slender tapered legs or spade feet characteristic of the era.

Place the cabinet against a neutral wall in a living room or dining space, filling the interior shelves with modern ceramics, art books, or glass items to create visual contrast.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, and clean glass panels using a dedicated cleaner applied directly to a cloth rather than the frame.
