Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets produced between 1901 and 1910 favoured lighter, more delicate proportions than preceding Victorian pieces. Influenced by 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs, they frequently feature slim square tapered legs, glazed single or double doors, and refined satinwood inlay.

Cabinet makers primarily utilised solid mahogany and rich mahogany veneers, often detailed with contrasting satinwood stringing, boxwood banding, and marquetry. Glazed elements used float glass panes, while interiors were often lined with fabric, timber, or mirrored backs.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, smooth timber drawer linings, and genuine brass lock mechanisms. Look for delicate, precise marquetry such as fan or urn motifs in contrasting veneers rather than printed or painted patterns.

Position the cabinet against a light or neutral wall to highlight its dark mahogany silhouette and intricate inlay details. Use the glass shelves to display curated collections of contemporary ceramics, clear glassware, or leather-bound books to bridge vintage and modern aesthetics.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the mahogany finish. Avoid placing the cabinet in direct sunlight or adjacent to strong heat sources to prevent timber cracking and wood colour fading.
