Robert Belcher Antiques has dated these Chippendale Mahogany Armchairs to the 18th Century.
The seats are upholstered in deep buttoned maroon hide finished with a double brass nailed boarder. The backs are most ornate with a carved and pierced central panel finished with a shaped and foliate carved crest rail supported on a tapered and moulded frame from which the serpentine shaped arms protrude with generous elbow pads and ornate foliate carved fronts on moulded and shaped supports.

This rare pair of high-quality 18th century English chairs are in very good original condition with firm joints and solidly upholstered seats. They are made from dense Cuban mahogany which has retained its original finish and benefits from a fine rich patina.
